Meanwhile in Utah they continue their attack on trasgendered people.

Here’s What the Science Actually Says About Utah’s New Ban on Gender-Affirming Care

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox has signed into law a bill that will place an indefinite pause on hormone therapy and puberty blockers and ban gender-affirming surgeries for trans minors. The move coincides with a growing number of states considering and implementing laws to restrict access to gender-affirming health care for trans youth, and it represents a seeming reversal for Cox, who just last year vetoed a law that banned trans athletes from participating in girls sports.

Cox said in a statement Saturday that the new law was spurred by a desire to wait for “more and better research” to determine the long-term consequences of hormone-replacement therapy, puberty blockers, and gender-affirming surgeries. Such legislation is not new, particularly in conservative states: In 2022, The Williams Institute at the UCLA School of Law estimated that nearly 60,000 transgender youth were at risk of losing access to gender-affirming health care due to state bans and policies.

Studies overwhelmingly show that trans people who access desired forms of gender-affirming care report more positive outcomes and that the risks pale in comparison to the benefits of receiving potentially lifesaving treatment. Additionally, major medical organizations including the American Medical Association oppose restrictions on gender-affirming health care, which the organization calls “medically necessary.”

Wizards of the Coast/Hasbro capitulated:

Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) owner Wizards of the Coast (WotC) has halted its attempts to update the longstanding Open Gaming License (OGL) that has dictated the legal use of the game’s rules for decades. The move comes after weeks of controversy and belated attempts to partially scale back leaked plans for an OGL update.

The original OGL 1.0a, first released in the early ’00s, will now “remain untouched” WotC announced in a tweet Friday. What’s more, the entire D&D Systems Reference Document (SRD)—which also includes creative content like classes, spells, and monsters trademarked and copyrighted by WotC—is now available under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License, meaning it’s free to use as long as proper credit is given.

This is the same argument the insurrectionists are using, that they should be tried at home.

LINCOLN — Federal prosecutors in California pushed back Friday on appeals from former U.S. Rep. Jeff Fortenberry that he was wrongly convicted of lying to federal agents and that he was wrongly tried in Los Angeles, instead of Nebraska.

In a 73-page filing, prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in L.A. argued that at least three circuit court decisions have concluded the proper venue for a trial can be either the district where an offense was committed or where an offense was “directed,” or in this case, California.

If you’ve been looking at migrating to Pathfinder, you might have to go digital. An 8-month supply of Pathfinder Core books is out — for now.

Paizo reported that a run of what was intended to be an 8-month supply of Pathfinder Core Rulebooks has apparently sold out as demand for more Pathfinder surges in the RPG community. Fueled in part by the recent Open Gaming sale, Paizo made the announcement on Twitter, along with news that more Pathfinder is on the way.

They did that “Walk for Life” shit here in Los Angeles last Saturday with the Usual Gang of Assholes congregating in front of the US Courthouse downtown. Yep they had the red caps and the usual signs. Interesting to see a lot of Catholic priests with the red hats…

The ACLU is getting dragged badly. They are making the same argument other conservatives do, that a private company must provide a platform for Mr. Trump’s speech.

I know why. Because they look tasty.

Skiers are easier to catch than Roadrunners.

When it comes to greasing the skids for Republicans the ACLU always gladly assists.

There’s a reason my wife and I quit giving donations to the ACLU.

That did allow us to increase our donations to Planned Parenthood in Lincoln.

Until they think noone is paying attention. This is pure Hasbro wanting to squeeze more money out of the IP and I don’t trust anything they say.

When they release it under Creative Commons they cannot revoke it.

The SRD 5.1 that is available online is still only under the OGL 1.0a.

IF they do, that becomes true.

This is Hasbro. They are as trustworthy as a Repblican and as truthful as Faux News.

I’ve been chased by grouse, skiing and mountain biking.

No grouse for me, but I have been followed by coyotes while mountain biking (alone at dusk.)

Are they “chasing” them? Or racing them?

Or maybe they’re just chasing them because canines chase people who run/ski away from them. My poochikins used to do the same thing. Joggers at the park were not amused, but the dog was just playing.

Every time there is a death at the hands of police officers, I keep coming back to this:

“There’s a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people. “- Admiral Adama

They…the cops…we’ve militarized the hell out of our local LEOs and you damn well better believe they think they’re at war already.

Peelian principles #1

To prevent crime and disorder, as an alternative to their repression by military force and severity of legal punishment.

Funny how much that guy worked out.

Imagine the guys at IA — “hey, this guy called to say the Scorpion Unit is out of control”. “Well, duh”.

When you call something the “Scorpion Unit” you’re telling its members exactly how you want them to behave.
